Wednesday: Rest Is Not a Reward. It's a Command.

Midweek and already running low?
You are not alone. Wednesday has a way of revealing exactly how much we’ve been running on and how much of it has been our own strength rather than God’s.
Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11 is one of the most countercultural things He ever said. In a world that rewards hustle and glorifies busyness, He looks at weary, burdened people and says: come to Me. Not: push harder. Not: you’re almost there, keep grinding. Come. To Me. And I will give you rest.
Not sell you rest. Not make you earn rest. Give it.
The rest Jesus offers isn’t just physical it’s the deep soul-rest that comes from no longer carrying what was never yours to carry alone. The anxiety about outcomes. The pressure to have it all figured out. The weight of trying to hold everything together in your own strength.
That weight was never meant to be yours.
Come to Him today right now, in the middle of your Wednesday and trade your burden for His. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. And the rest He gives goes deeper than sleep ever could.

What burden have you been carrying this week that you haven’t actually given to God yet? Write it down and then physically open your hands as a symbol of releasing it to Him. What does it feel like to let it go?
Today’s Prayer
Jesus, I am tired today. Not just physically soul-tired. I come to You right now, in the middle of this week, and I lay down what I’ve been carrying. Take it.
Give me the rest You promised the kind that restores, that refreshes, that makes me able to keep going with Your strength instead of my own. I receive it now. In Jesus’ name, amen.
